    Plantar fasciiits is one of those injuries that no medical professional knows how to get rid of. I am among many people who've had it for a year and a half, and it won't go away. Nothing works. Everybody has their theory - "lose weight", "tight calves", "Ratleff protocol", "it's not actually PF", as though because something worked for them it's going to work for everyone else. Unfortunately plantar fasciitis is a misnomer. It is usually plantar fasciosis, meaning tissue death. It doesn't matter how many anti inflammatories you take, how many hundreds of hours of stretching you do, how many pounds you lose, it's not going to make necrotic tissue healthy again. And the rate of failure in conservative care for PT is really an indictment on podiatrists and orthopedic doctors. It's not uncommon to see them for a year, trying 25 different treatment modalities and getting no results. That is my predicament. Would you bring your car to the mechanic 25 times in 25 weeks, keep paying him week over week, and still not have your original problem fixed? Bottom line is nobody really knows how to get rid of it, and if any of this stuff worked we wouldn't be dealing with it for years with no relief. I have no doubt that for some people, it will eventually go away with a year or two of PT and strengthening. But some people can't just ignore pain with every step for a year and be patient, and thus we fall prey to these voodoo quick fixes. I just finished 6 sessions of shockwave therapy - 6 trips to the podiatrist and $600 later and zero relief. I am heading for yet another Tenjet procedure. It's the only thing that got rid of it the first time (only for it to come back in the lateral band). It actually gets to the root cause by aspirating the diseased tissue out of the body. Very appalled and disheartened after a year and a half of PF in multiple areas of my foot and having my time and money wasted. An orthopedic doctor wanted to do multiple $1200 PRP shots - an experimental treatment with little evidence behind it. But that's how desperate people are when conservative care routinely fails.

    Thank you for this information. I found it very encouraging. I am 55 year old male. Seven years ago I began the process of getting my health back. I have lost a lot of weight and gained muscle in the process. Life has been quite good since, as a result. However, for the last few months I have had left, medial knee pain from time to time when squatting. Two weeks ago I was doing a front squat movement (not very heavy weight, even for me) and I felt that pain again. I stopped the exercise immediately, recognizing I have had it in the past. Normally I would wait a few weeks and then I could squat again. I also walk daily, so my walking, even when I had felt the pain in my knee, was never hampered. I could always walk, even on incline and uneven ground. However, after the most recent incident I started to notice swelling in my left calf. I thought, possibly, I had a DVT from the injury. Is this possible? In any event, over the past two weeks the calf swelling has gone down, but my knee pain has increased. I believe I accidentally twisted my knee while working and have subsequently made the injury much worse. I am now having difficulty even walking without pain. Sadly, my work does not allow me to sit and I cannot not work. It is not an option for me. I believe I am dealing with a meniscus injury that was somewhat mild initially, at least for the previous few months, but it has recently, as I mentioned, gotten much worse. I have full range of movement with my knee, so that is good, but I cannot walk regularly without significant pain.

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio 13 часов назад

      It does sound like a meniscus injury - you will have to find clever ways of allowing it to rest a bit during work etc. e.g. try to limit your walking as you can and make sure you wear good shoes and when you do have to walk, take it slow and don't try to rush and use your arms to take weight off when going up and down stairs.

    • @wrknathome9254
      @wrknathome9254 13 часов назад

      @@SportsInjuryPhysio Thank you for your reply. I truly appreciate it. I will do as you advise. Would you recommend a knee brace/sleeve while at work? The days are very long 14-15 hours basically. I used to wear a knee sleeve when squatting a few years back, so I wondered if that might help some. Thanks again. Your video was one of the most encouraging videos I have watched about this injury because at the end you told that woman that it would heal, eventually. I don't mind doing the hard work to rehab, but the thought of never being able to exercise again is very disheartening. Its amazing how easy it is to take the simple mobility of walking for granted.

      That really depends on your injury and specific situation - your physiotherapist who is helping with your rehab is best placed to advise on this. If you wanted help with your rehab and an exercise plan, this is something that our team of physios can assess and help you with via video call. Spot on for proximal biceps tendon issue. It hurt hours after serious strength training yesterday. Very deep pushups and high overhead presses probably caused. Symptoms match perfectly. So I am happy my intuition to give is complete rest acutely, not even stretching, is the right call at first. Great video. I hope because I could it so early, with this advice, the tendon will become happy again much earlier.
